Sushi 2 is on the way. Get ready for it!
Mon, 26 Oct 2015 23:00:45 -0400

All the things that were problematic with V1, like invoice saving and customisation, are all gone.

New version will come with PayPal and Stripe payments built in to invoices; email invoices (as well as PDF export and online version); invoice history and report building; tax on invoices; more currencies available and recurring invoices.

Sushi 2 will be the best invoicing application you can use for your business.

Tight Dropbox integration
Sat, 29 Aug 2015 23:01:01 -0400

Previously you had to find your file in your Dropbox account. Right click and copy the link into the Filesprout form. And if you wanted direct downloading change the dl=0 at the end of the URL to dl=1.

Now it all happens automatically.

image

1. Select “choose from Dropbox”

2. Choose your file from your Dropbox

3. That’s it!

Fill out the rest of the information as usual (price, name etc) and the Dropbox file will now auto link and auto download after purchase has been completed.

This Dropbox integration is compatible with:

Desktop

  • Internet Explorer, versions 9+
  • Chrome
  • Firefox
  • Safari

Mobile

  • Safari
  • Android browser
  • Chrome on Android

This also means you can set up a quick Filesprout on your mobile on the train via the Dropbox app, share it on Twitter and start getting money in without doing much heavy lifting.

And it lets you link a whole range of filetypes - not just ZIPs:

  • Text files .applescript, .as, .as3, .c, .cc, .clisp, .coffee, .cpp, .cs, .css, .csv, .cxx, .def, .diff, .erl, .fountain, .ft, .h, .hpp, .htm, .html, .hxx, .inc, .ini, .java, .js, .json, .less, .log, .lua, .m, .markdown, .mat, .md, .mdown, .mkdn, .mm, .mustache, .mxml, .patch, .php, .phtml, .pl, .plist, .properties, .py, .rb, .sass, .scss, .sh, .shtml, .sql, .tab, .taskpaper, .tex, .text, .tmpl, .tsv, .txt, .url, .vb, .xhtml, .xml, .yaml, .yml, and files with no extension

See the guide for more info.

But it also still works tightly with Google Drive, Amazon S3 and practically any cloud or shared hosting server you have.

Just flick the switch for the URL box and paste the URL to your file on one of these other hosts/servers and Bob’s your uncle:

Host your file anywhere and sell it anywhere. That’s the Filesprout motto.

Hello Japan - Filesprout takes ¥ and Japanese Stripe
Fri, 28 Aug 2015 23:00:51 -0400

For creators based in Japan and wanting to sell their creations in Japanese Yen, Filesprout now allows products to be listed in ¥. This is alongside the Euro, GBP and USD already available to sellers.

And as an added bonus, they can be sold through PayPal or Stripe. Stripe is currently in Beta in Japan (full release scheduled for December) so this is a great opportunity for any Japanese creators to sell their goods via Stripe and Filesprout and in ¥.

Much cleaner design for Filesprout

Maybe a reason why not many people are using Filesprout is that the quick product creation form was a little ugly. It’s been tidied up:

Credit card reader on iOS8
Wed, 19 Aug 2015 23:00:41 -0400

With mobile traffic on the daily rise, it makes perfect sense to maximise the mobile experience. Filesprout v3 checkout pages are completely responsive - whether checking out on PayPal’s side or the Stripe checkout out page on Filesprout.

Another great feature built into Filesprout’s Stripe checkout page is the credit card reader. This came about since iOS8 and appears when you start typing your credit card details in.

The standard mobile formatted form appears first. And the card details that take numerals automatically pop up the number keyboard to make it really quick and easy to checkout.

But when you start on the text field (name) you can see the “Scan Credit Card” button above the keyboard. Push that and up pops the card reader.

Shoot a photo of your card (a real card!) and hit “scan” and it will pre-populate all the fields.

It’s a great time save - no need to enter your payment info into a site - and that should mean more checkouts and more $$ to you when selling your files.
