Escondido, CA - August 6: Screentime Media today announced mProjector 4 for Mac OS X and Windows. mProjector 4 enables Adobe Flash or Flex developers using ActionScript 2 or 3 to easily create compelling desktop buddies, connected widgets or full blown applications. All SWF files used to create mProjector applications are encrypted to protect a developer"s intellectual property. Applications do not require the installation of a runtime engine and have rich access to the native operating system. mProjector 4 integrates seamlessly into Flash by extending ActionScript with new classes and more than 100 cross-platform functions. The new version has been completely rewritten for the Windows OS. Performance has improved dramatically across the board. mProjector is the only tool that lets Flash developers create standalone applications with smooth anti-aliased Flash Shaped windows on Mac OS X and Windows. Other capabilities include synchronous window to window communication from ActionScript 2 or 3, file system access (including synchronous and asynchronous file copying), custom document handling, comprehensive menu handling, System Tray and Status Menu support. Joe Kaufman of Fire Maple Games says "mProjector has allowed me to fulfill my dream of owning a successful video game company! mProjector is, hands down, my favorite piece of software" mProjector enables web designers to bust-out of the browser, using their Flash or Flex skills to create rich internet applications on the desktop. mProjector applications range from games and desktop toys, to CD learning tools and kiosk applications as well system tray or toaster popup alert applications, branded news readers, screen buddies and more. A ball that bounces around the desktop? A man who jumps from window to window? mProjector can do it. mProjector also supports on-the-fly window creation, so applications are not limited to one window, or even to a set of predefined windows. Each window can play its own SWF, and windows can communicate with each other via custom-defined synchronous functions. mProjector applications can be as small as a few hundred KB, for fast, easy downloads.
